Rock Bed Installation Services

At Backyard Buddies, we install decorative rock beds for homeowners who want a clean, low-maintenance landscape bed that holds its look longer than mulch. Rock beds give your property a sharp, finished appearance, and they work well around homes, walkways, trees, mailboxes, fence lines, and existing landscape areas.

Most of our rock bed work is for pre-existing beds. If you already have a garden bed or landscape area, we can clean it up, shape the edges, prepare the space, and install decorative rock to give it a fresh look. We focus on making the bed look clean, even, and natural with edges that fit the shape of your yard.

We can also create new rock beds if you want to add one where there is not already a bed in place. That may include removing grass, tilling or preparing the area, cutting a clean edge, trenching the border, and shaping the bed so it looks like it belongs there. Some customers prefer a natural trenched edge. Others like pavers, stone borders, metal edging, plastic edging, or another garden bed border. We can work with the style you want.

There are several types of decorative landscaping rock to choose from. Common options include river rock, pea gravel, crushed limestone, marble chips, lava rock, granite chips, slate chips, and other decorative stone. Each one has a different look, texture, and price point. River rock gives a smooth, natural look. Pea gravel works well for smaller areas. Marble chips look bright and clean. Lava rock gives a darker, rougher look. Crushed stone can give the bed a more structured appearance.

Rock bed installation usually takes more prep than mulch. Rock is heavier, takes more effort to move and spread, and needs a good base so the finished bed looks right. Depending on the job, we may recommend landscape fabric under the rock to help reduce weed growth and keep the stone separated from the soil. It will not stop every weed forever, but it can help the bed stay cleaner over time.

We price rock bed installations by the square foot, with the final quote based on the size of the bed, the type of rock, the condition of the area, access to the property, and how much prep work the job needs. A simple rock refresh in an existing bed will usually cost less than creating a brand-new bed from scratch.

If we need to remove grass, clean out old mulch, install edging, trench new borders, lay landscape fabric, or haul and spread a large amount of stone, that will affect the final price. We keep the quote clear so you know what work goes into the job before we start.
